The pull across the prairies on Hwy 2 in Montana and on 94 in North Dakota is about the most boring ride ever. Next time, we'll figure out a book on tape to listen to. Fortunately, the iPhone signal was great so I could get lots of appointments and chatting done. My friend Bev and I texted to set up a walk next week, only to discover she was on 94 in Montana, having just visited Yellowstone.
We had one last adventure in Montana, as Gil said, "we gotta stop at the next gas....we've only got 16 miles left". About two seconds after that, we ran out of gas. YES, we did! We coasted up a hill, down a hill and about half way up the off ramp for exit 147 in the middle of Montana somewhere. Of course, it was pouring and the wind was blowing like crazy but the good news is that Gil only had to walk about two blocks. He was fortunate to get a ride back to the car and we were able to get gas at exit 147 just like we planned with a minor delay!
After we left Glacier Park, we spent one night in Glaskow, MT and one in Bismark, ND, where we spent our first night out on our 5,000 mile, 33 day adventure. We were sad to have the trip end, but also very glad to be home. Today, the Going to the Sun highway was closed due to 6 inches of snow. Good time to be home!
