Super Bowl 49 and Groundhog Day 2015

February 2, 2015

Since the Groundhog saw his shadow, we'll see more winter, but winter in Texas has a whole different meaning compared to Minnesota!  We are lovin' the warm temps and sunny skies of winter on the Coastal Bend.

The local paper, has a writer named Frostbite Betty.  You can guess where she's from!  We've decided instead of being Winter Texans.... we'll become Summer Minnesotans.

We had a fun dinner at Allegro Bay in Rockport to say good bye and safe travels to our Calgary buddies.  It's nice that we'll see them again next year!

The Super Bowl brought some fun parties at Gulf Waters.  People all bring something to pass and one site hosts about 100 people.  Great fun and it was nice the weather and wind accommodated the outdoor pre-game party.  Lots of fun new recipes and smoked brisket and pulled pork.  The park smelled heavenly!

Later we gathered with our besties and enjoyed snacks and some great football.  Even though we were putting money in a dish, that was passed from person to person, we think we might broke even even though we don't fully understand the actual rules!  Besides the Budweiser ad, the Fiat ad was hilarious and our favorite!

We took a trip to DD Statuary in Odem, TX.  This place has everything you can imagine in molded in concrete.  Seriously, even the David was life size.  Fortunately, we didn't bring anything home for the lot except clear instructions on how to care for and paint the cement table on our lot.

This January is so much better than last year as far as the weather!  The lot is framed for the concrete, which should be poured on Thursday --- we're pretty sick of the mess and sand!

Sending love from Texas!
