What has happened to January? Fun, fun, fun and good friends as we get into the swing of being a Winter Texan. Gil has been busy working on our lot as the crew prepares it for some stamped concrete early next week. It's going to be great. It's meant many, many trips to ACE hardware and Home Depot! We are into re-purposing and today he hauled about 2000 pounds of terracota to our lot to make a walkway on the 'hook up' side of our lot. It's from 7000 feet high mountain in Colorado and was being torn up on another lot. it was once on the floor of the ocean and has fossils in it. The new owners of the lot don't want it and it was about to be hauled away before we got it!!!
It's been a week of disorganization, dust and dirt as the crew has been manually digging up sod, working less than they work and having lots of breaks and time spent "shooting the breeze" while resting on shovels. The work ethic is questionable in Texas but we feel lucky....they even showed up!
Last night was a trip to the famous Kody's for all you can eat shrimp followed by some dancing at Bernies Beach House where the PA Rockers crooned away with music from the 50's and 60's. Simply amazing sound!
Still working hard at classes 3 times a week for my body and today my walking buds and I got 5 miles on the beach.
Willie is acting totally young as he impatiently waits for the daily walk, looking for his buddies to come down the road.
Today, before the happy hour where the host looked just like Alan Jackson - (be still my heart!) we met our friends Mick and Kay at the Wild Horse Saloon for lunch. They have the best-ever Jack Daniels burger. Such fun and so many good laughs. We feel so lucky to have found such a welcoming group of great friends!
The weather has been incredible....a far better winter here than last year! Tomorrow, even if it doesn't rain, I must, however, do the dreaded laundry.
I got a new step counter to motivate me and today I clocked 15,741 which is almost 7 miles!!! YAY!
