Way too Much Fun!

January 18, 2015
We are having so much fun!  I think we've been out to eat every night for a week....seems like when we are planning to stay home, someone suggests we go out!  And out we go.

Last night there was a huge bonfire at the beach with hot dogs and tonight we went to the Boathouse for dinner with some of our friends from last year, who are from Calgary.

We've covered another 8 miles by walking the beach in the last two days, and if it weren't for our passion for Buttermilk pie, we might actually be able to lose a little weight.

The bonfire had about 60 people and we brought a hot air balloon type lantern and released it when it was dark.  Watching it drift down the beach was pretty amazing.  Lots of work went into digging the pit for the fire and gathering the wood from a local construction site's scrap pile.

The weather has warmed and the winds are down so we won't be heading to town for a while.  It's such a simple life, filled with treasures from the sea, good friends and beautiful sunsets.  We're pretty sure it doesn't get any better than life as a Winter Texan on the Gulf of Mexico.

The photo below is the new board walk to the beach which now can accommodate golf carts....so suddenly this year, there are about 75 in the park!  They are hilarious...they come in all sizes, shapes and colors.  Some look like a mini Escalade, some have racing stripes and some adorned with tons of flags....of course, mostly with the state flag of Texas!
