Last night we treated out 'neighbors' to ice cream. They are leaving tomorrow for 6 weeks of camping on Padre Island. They have been fabulous people and just this morning brought over more whiting fish for our freezer. They are like living next door to the ACE Hardware. We have absolutely nothing in common with them, but they are some of the kindest and most generous people we have met. We were so lucky to have them for neighbors. Last night the neighbors from Canada one RV over brought over warm carrot cake....this is an amazing place filled with very special people.
Another 5 miles on the beach today and then the sun came out ---- FINALLY! It's been drizzly, dreary, cloudy and windy...not too nice. We were missing you sun and are glad you're back! Then at 4 we headed downtown to line up our bag chairs with neighbors from Canada to watch our first ever Mardi Gras parade in Port A. What a hoot! Men in trucks with ROMEO Club on the sign (which means: ...retired - old- men- eating- out. Lots of silliness but many laughs and much fun with beads and candy.
I missed beignet making class but figured a walk on the beach with Will was better! There is a sand castle making contest here. One guy has been practicing in front of his restaurant (photo). It's some pretty amazing stuff. Made a chicken pot pie last night (thanks mom for giving me the recipe over the phone).
My dad has been fantastic as our personal mailman...we go over the mail every day and figure out what we need to receive and what can wait. Today we got an invitation to a wedding...a save the date card. We can't' figure out who the people are??? We must be loosing it!
