Sunday night we had a fun dinner at Virginia's on the Bay. The restaurant has open-air seating to the harbor. We said our farewell's to the dolphins, pelicans, the coast guard practices and the jetty boat. We had a fabulous dinner of a really huge crab cake and Gil had a fish sandwich. On Monday, we could hardly say goodbye to the beach. It was so windy you couldn't walk without getting sand in your mouth. I decided the sea was angry because we were saying our bittersweet goodbye.
Last night, we were going to go to Port A for a last swing through town and ice cream after dinner, but our good friends from Canada came over and invited us for a bonfire and ice cream with strawberries. It was a fun night! We couldn't of dreamed of a more perfect paradise than Port Aransas. We are so lucky!
Today we said our final goodbyes and headed out towards San Antonio. You've heard things are really BIG in Texas...well they aren't kidding. Check out the size of this flag in comparison to the buildings! We fought side winds of 32 mph which always is a little hairy for the driver and me the nagivator:-) but we safely landed for two nights at Stone Creek RV park just North of San Antonio complete with horses and ranch style buildings. Hoppy is thrilled with a covered picnic table!
A couple of 'events' recently included Gil having his Discover card hacked by someone trying to buy a $1300 Dell computer which fortunately Discover declined. Of course, all the autopays are messed up. Discover was prompt to get a new card, but of course they don't forward them, so we had to cancel the first replacement and now the new card is with my dad, which is good. We need to wait for the USB Visa to arrive because it expires the end of Feb and they don't forward and then dad will forward both cards to us. We will be better at managing these details next year! LOL! In the meantime, Gil will keep me around because I'm the one with all the good credit cards:-)
The last 6 weeks, I've been busy checking things off my bucket list including seeing the sun, walking the beach for a long time and wandering without getting lost. Not to mention our goals of avoiding snow and cold, reading and exercising more, meeting tons of really GREAT people and having the travel adventure of our lives.
Tomorrow we head out to explore the Riverwalk, the Alamo and all the fun things to do in San Antonio!
Thanks for reading and traveling with us!
